If God is "good" (maybe not good like we intitially think but good as in the very essence and starting point of anything good) and His word tells us that everything works together for "good" (again "good" based out of who God is not whether we would consider it "good" or not) for those that love him...then as a Christian...is there "bad"? Are "scary" words scary, if you are a Christian?
Granted there is evil in this world because of the fall and people that don't know God see bad as bad...as Christians we are called to restore people to God and share His love with everyone but, as a Christian=Christ Follower when James says consider it all joy when you face trials of many kinds then is bad really bad?
A friend of mine had his house burn down the end of last year. Total loss. Some of their pictures were salvaged because stuff had fallen on the boxes and kind of protected them but basically everything in the house was lost.
When I called him you know what he said to me...(in his deep Texas accent) "It aint nothin' but a house and I can get another one of those".
About a month ago this same guy's wife started having trouble breathing. Her body wasn't converting carbon dioxide into oxygen at a sufficient rate. The Doctors have no answers. They did a surgery to take out parts of her lungs to send to the Mayo clinics world renowned Doctors to try and find out why this is happening.
I was with him when his wife went into surgery. He was a little bit scared (understandably, cause even if it is God's will he would really miss her if she died) but we sat and talked the entire time she was in surgery and He is convinced that somehow this stuff they have gone through will help them in their single parent ministry that they run.
God is good! God is in control! I know it is true because I have seen it proved true to me through my life and through sharing life with others.
My mom is going in for a biopsy on Thursday. The Dr. says that is a about a 50/50 chance that it is cancer.
Scary words aren't as "scary" when you know God and follow Him.
