This is from a while back cause I imported it from my other blog to shut the other one down... I don't need two :)
One of my heroes. He is not a personal friend or even an acquaintance. He hasn’t poured into my life, confronted me when I was in the wrong or spent countless hours “doing life” with me like so many of my God given mentors and heroes…but we are part of the same family.
He has a passion for God much like I do; only mine seems to be much more in the infant stages compared to his. His is inspiring to me, his makes me want to be able to preach like He does. It is so obvious every time I get to hear him preach that he speaks as one who has such intimacy with God. Again, something that inspires me.
He is not just a hero because of his passion or even his intimacy with God BUT his intimacy with God leads him to be the man that is my hero. He is my hero because he allows God to use him in mighty ways. He is a humble servant that follows hard after Christ and because of that, God has done and is doing GREAT things through him. He would not want credit or people to look to him maybe even in this light, though it is tempting I’m sure with his notoriety and giftedness, but instead points people to Christ. He leads them, through his words, into God’s presence and leaves them there to soak it up. He speaks clearly and passionately in a way that forces you to respond but most importantly he speaks through the power of the Spirit in Him, the same Spirit that is in me and in every Christ follower.
This, gives me hope...inspires me...challenges me...It was so great to shake his hand, look into his eyes and talk with him.
Wow, what a highlight for me!
Who am I talking about?
None other than...
